Group: Concept development reflection
Our group have collaborated this week, reviewing what we have completed and what needs to be done for our final production; The technical analysis was a key task for forming our ideas, we each chose a video to complete a shot by shot analysis to find out how our chosen genre is represented through a music video, and then we had to identify 10 particular frames from each video that may have inspired us to re-create in our final video. We have also traveled to many locations to try and find a suitable location; we cam across three interesting locations that would fit for our production and carried out a reccie and risk assessment. Going forward, we now are searching for magazine prints to provide us with the ideas we need and we are starting to form ideas for costume and types of camera movements to use for our music video.
Location Reccie - Tonbridge Railway station car park
Here is a potential location for our final production. Here we are hoping to create low angle steadicam tracking shots as our performer walks through the tunnel and into the car park, breaking the fourth wall with a first person mode of address. We will be hoping to film here at night time, therefore the bright overhead lighting from the tunnel and car park will be more effective. With character blocking we will be placing our performer alone in this location. It is unlikely that we will use any props here but the performers costume will be key. Potential obstacles here are cars and pedestrians however we are hoping to film late enough so that there are few around.

Group: Camera Movement and Close-Ups
Eminem - Not Afraid; great use of close-ups to show the artists emotions and passion
Nines - Can't Blame Me; effective use of camera movement and flow, especially with tracking

- This music videos features many qualities that our group wish to take into our production when it comes to filming an editing.
- The darkness is a key impact this video has, allowing the main focus to be on the artist with some low-key lighting surrounding them, giving me the idea to film at night and trying to concentrate the audiences attention on the main artist by shining light.
- For mise-en-scene, the characters wear black tracksuits, which links with the dark background and supports the music genre as each artist expresses what they want.
- Further, the use of props add a comedic value to the song, something we want to consider when filming.
- In many of the shots, the main character is in the middle section of the frame. This causes the focus to be sustained on the artist.
- There are Close Up's of the main artists which allows us to see more of their emotions and feel more connected to their character.

Key Observations:
- I would like to emulate the steadicam movement and transitions from this piece into my own work as it looks very effective and creates a great flow.
- Also I would like to use similar costumes that are used in this video for our performance shots.
- Thirdly the large use of first person mode of address in this video is what our piece is likely include.
- Finally a technique that I would like to use in post production in order to create transition in our piece is the split screen that you see within this video, leading into a new location with a new costume etc.
Group : Brighton Reccie - Print Ideas
We decided to experiment with potential locations for where we wanted for ouyr album cover , We drove down to Margate to take some stills and complete a reccie to see if we liked the location. Here are some stills of our reccie
Group - Brighton Film Short
Here is our short piece from the trip to Brighton. We put this together by using Davinchi resolve for the first time to edit our work. After a short tutorial in class we were able to adapt to the new setup reasonably easily. A main example of a technique that we were able to use in this piece was the increase in tempo of our shots, as you will notice that towards the end there is a short time lapse.

Group: Treatment 2, JME - Calm
As a group, we have come together and collaborated some ideas, realizing that our original idea of choosing 'Made In America' by Jay-Z and Kanye West, has too many difficulties in, recreating scenes to look like they are from America and also trying to represent the two characters alike to the way they act in their videos. We have therefore looked in an area close to home, choosing the UK grime genre, and using JME, as our potential lead character, Lucas, can represent this artist within the music video.
'Calm' song lyrics
'Calm' song lyrics
[Intro - Jme:]
How I stay out of peoples' way, or how people stay out of my way
Issues and confrontations
It's because I don't let nobody be in control of me
I'm in control, that's the main reason
And I don't let nobody be in control or I'm going to lash out at them for something they've done
Some of them are even smarter than that, they'll see you're in a powerful position and they'll bred you and then have issues with you later
I don't even accept the bred, I tell man don't even accept the bred bruv
[Hook - Jme:]
Dem boys are idiots, we don't watch them
Dem boys are idiots, we don't watch them
Dem boys are pants, we don't really care
They stand and stare, foot to the floor and we're out of here
Calm, calm, calm
Trust me, I don't accept the bred
[Verse 1 - Jme:]
So far had minimal drama
Close shaves but I'm not a barber
Don't question my objective from you know who's in my collective
So calm, couldn't be calmer
Feeling good, could it be karma?
You don't rate me? That's objective
If you could see from my perspective
Man ain't got time for that!
You're not near me rudeboy, mind the gap
Please, you don't wanna fall on a track with me
You're not in the trap, but you're trapped in G
You do not fool me, nah not at all, see
There's nothing you can teach me, let alone school me
So carry on doing your ting, but just know, man don't care about all that
[Hook - Jme]
Trust
[Verse 2 - Jme:]
I could be anywhere, there's draw outs
Man are bredding me just to fall out
Try bred, I ain't accepting
I keep it moving on a respect ting
My name is bait, so you wanna call out
If I'm alone, you better go all out
One man up is a next ting but now you're with your goons you're vexing
Rudeboy calm yourself, push too much you'll harm yourself
Fam, come like you're dying to get near man
I dunno wagwan for your intentions fam
You do not know me but you wanna show that you're on the roads
But fam I don't care, there ain't a single man on the face of the earth I fear
So I ain't hearing all that!
[Hook - Jme]
[Verse 3 - Jme:]
Man don't wear no watch on my arm
Look at my phone, I can see wagwan
Time, date, set my alarm
I don't watch money, I invest that, calm
Might see me with Solo in Farm
With Grinder rolling through Narm
Might see me out with the wife in Yarm
Or see me on foot on my ones, calm
Don't pose up like you modelling arms
See me on road, spud, gwarn
Taking a pic can't do no harm
But just ask man first, calm
Can't chat shit when I'm here, calm
I might connect your face to my palm
Or elbow cause it works a charm
So just keep it moving, calm

LM - Moodboard - Metanarrative of Jay-Z
Moodboard – jay z’s meta narrative (1) from 10MurraL
- Throughout his career Jay-Z has constructed a bold meta-narrative. He is known for ‘gangster’ like characteristics, and is able to delve into the image of a contemporary urban gangster, wearing jewellery, hats, sunglasses etc. or an ‘old school’ gangster, wearing suits.
- These all contribute to the construction of his meta-narrative, causing him to come across as cool, stylish and flashy. This effectively makes him a figurehead for fans to look up to, as he lives 'The American dream' whilst fans aspire to succeed like him.
- From the way Jay-Z dresses, an audience is able to interpret his wealth, which is a common genre characteristic of hip hop, and over time his wealth and status has only increased causing him to become one of the biggest artist across the world.

Group: Treatment - Jay Z, Made in America
I believe the song 'Made in America' by Jay Z featuring Kanye West could be the correct choice for our music video, because Lucas, our lead character in our production, is best fitted to represent and portray Jay Z in this sequence. Further, We as a group want to re-create a story through our chosen song and this song is Narrative based and therefore we can pursue our idea in creating a tale.
Also we have some interesting ideas for visuals that link to the lyrics:

For that banana pudding, our piece of Americana
Our apple pie was supplied through Arm and Hammer
Straight out the kitchen, shh don't wake Nana!
Built a republic, that still stands
I'm trying to lead a nation, to leave to my little man's
Or my daughter, so I'm boiling this water
The scales was lopsided, I'm just restoring order
Hold up, here comes grandma, what's up YaYa?
What's that smell? Oh I'm just boiling some aqua
No papa, bad Santa
The streets raised me, pardon my bad manners
I got my liberty, chopping grams up
Street justice, I pray God understand us
I pledge allegiance to all the scramblers
This is the Star Spangled Banner
For that banana pudding, our piece of Americana
